Fees, Rebates and Benefits
We understand that cost is one of the top considerations for our families when deciding whether to enrol your child in formal childcare. Kids Choice Granville makes the decision process easier for you by providing access to affordable fees and convenient rebates and subsidies. Depending on your circumstances and eligibilities, you may reduce costs by applying for the rebates and benefits offered by the Federal and State Government.
Child Care Benefit (CCB)
The Child Care Benefit (CCB) is a payment from the Australian Federal Government that you can use to cover part of the cost of formal childcare. Managed and “means tested” by the Family Assistance Office (FAO), this subsidy is subtracted from the overall cost of childcare. You will pay the remaining cost to the centre on a weekly basis. Call the Child Care Access Hotline on 1800 670 305 for more information.
To become eligible for the CCB subsidy, you must be:
- A parent
- A relationship parent
- A grandparent with a child in your care
Your child must be attending childcare services approved by or registered with the Federal Government. Contact Centrelink on 136 150 to discuss your eligibility.
Child Care Rebate – (CCR)
Like the CCB, the Child Care Rebate (CCR) is a benefit from the Government that assists families with the cost of childcare. The Government will provide you with 50% of your out-of-pocket childcare costs if you are using approved childcare services and you passed the work-study test. There is an annual cap of $7,500 for every child enrolled in a registered childcare centre. You have two options when it comes to claiming the CCR:
- Have the CCR paid directly to the centre to reduce your weekly fees; or
- Settle your weekly payments and claim the CCR in a quarterly lump sum
Determining the Amount of CCB and CCR
Centrelink’s estimator tool will help you determine if you are eligible to claim CCB and how much you can receive. This tool will likewise tell you how much CCR you will get each year.
Other Rebates and Benefits
You may also be eligible for a range of other rebates and benefits offered by the Federal Government. These include:
- Jobs, Education and Training
- Non-standard hours care (applies to Family Day Care and In Home Care)
- Special Child Care Benefit
- Registered care/informal care
- Grandparent Child Care Benefit
- $250 Annual Pre-school subsidy (for parents who hold a Commonwealth Health Care Card)
